La WWE a annoncé que l'anglais Bad News Barrett sera présent au pay-per-view Battleground dimanche. Sérieusement blessé à l'épaule peu avant Money in the Bank et opéré il y a deux semaines, Barrett, qui a dû laisser vacant son titre Intercontinental, remettra la ceinture Intercontinentale au nouveau champion qui sera couronné à l'issue d'une Battle Royal.
Aux treize noms déjà annoncés pour la Battle Royal, neuf autres noms ont été ajoutés : Zack Ryder, Adam Rose, The Miz, Xavier Woods, R-Truth, Sin Cara, Diego, Titus O'Neil et Heath Slater.
